Scorpion Control

WE HAVE SCORPIONS IN ARIZONA

Scorpions have four pairs of legs. They also have pincers, called pedipalps, which look like lobster claws. Adult scorpions are usually pale gold or tan in color. They are between 2 and 6 inches long and have a venom bulb at the end of a long tail.

There are 90 species of scorpions in the United States and 1,500 species worldwide. There are over 30 species in Arizona Scorpions hide under rocks or debris. They live in crawl spaces. They hide during the day. Check your shoes and clothes before putting them on if you live in an area where there are likely to be scorpions.

If you live in an area where there is a lot of construction, you may be more likely to find scorpions inside because their outdoor habitat has been disturbed. They can live for months on just water. Because they are looking for water, you may find them in or under sinks or tubs.

Scorpions Pose a Health Risk

Scorpions sting. A scorpion sting may result in immediate pain or burning, itching, swelling, or tenderness, and a numbness/tingling sensation.

By Mayo Clinic Staff: “Most scorpion stings in the United States cause only minor signs and symptoms, such as pain and warmth at the sting site. Children who have been stung by a bark scorpion might experience:
  • Pain, which can be intense, numbness and tingling in the area around the sting, but little or no swelling
  • Unusual head, neck and eye movements
  • Sweating
  • Rapid Breathing
  • Increased Heart Rate
  • Weakness
  • Muscle twitching or thrashing
  • Drooling
  • Restlessness or excitability and sometimes inconsolable crying Adults are more likely to experience
  • High Blood Pressure

When to see a doctor - It's always best to be safe. If you or your child is stung, follow these guidelines:
  • Get immediate medical care for any child stung by a scorpion.
  • If you've been stung, get prompt care if you begin to experience widespread symptoms.
  • If you're concerned about a scorpion sting — even if your reaction is minor

BARK SCORPIONS

Only one species of scorpion venom is considered dangerous to humans. That species is right here in Arizona. It is called the Bark Scorpion.

It is straw colored or opaque and less than 2 inches long. The Bark Scorpion is most dangerous if the person stung has an allergic reaction.

If you develop symptoms of a Bark Scorpion sting, go to the nearest emergency room. Antivenin
is readily available in Arizona. Keep your tetanus shots and boosters current.

Solving the Scorpion Problem

We offer a variety of solutions for your scorpion problem, including:

Scorpion Control Treatment: We offer a targeted scorpion control treatment program tailored specifically to fit your scorpion activity requirements. We treat inside, outside and the entire yard.

Monthly Services: We offer a monthly maintenance program to eliminate scorpions from your home or business.

Scorpion Sealing / Proofing: After the scorpion removal process is complete or treated, we can seal scorpions out of your home or business so they cannot reenter. We caulk around roof eaves, pipes, and any other cracks that allow entrance into the home. We screen all exhaust vents in bathrooms and laundry rooms. We check garage doors to make sure they are flush with the ground when down.

Scorpion Black Light Service: Scorpions cannot see ultraviolet light, but ultraviolet light makes scorpions fluoresce blue. Black light service allows us to inspect and hunt scorpions in and around your house or business, yards, walls, buildings and fences. This is an extremely effective method to rid scorpions, while also providing an excellent opportunity to inspect the scorpion's habitats and entry paths.
